Hello: I have a book at Pinnacle. I noticed that tennis bets only become official if both players complete the match. If one "retires" the bet is off the board. For example, (and I really did) I bet Davyenko (sp) today against Garcia. Dave was losing 2-6, 0-6 when he "retired". I got a reprieve and the bet washed out.

I don't know why this policy is neccessary. A player who retires, loses the match - part of betting on the match is determining the player's health and whether she can go the distance.

Of course, one may reply that this protects from cheating (player A bets on himself and, realizing he will lose, retires; or Player A bets on player B and retires, winning the bet).

However, it seems to me, the easiest type of sport to throw a match would be tennis. Furthermore, NOW, if a player is losing, and had bet on himself, he can "retire" due to heat exhaustion, leg craps, etc.

I think this is a bad idea.
