Raise w/2nd best hand to isolate?
ok, finally got around to reading theory of poker.
Slansky recommends that you raise with 2nd best hand to isolate to give yourself the best chance of winning. I'm trying to think of how this applies to SnGs. How about this (1st hand of a SnG and no reads): mp limps, you're co-1 and limp w/ATo, co, button, and blinds are in. Flop: 4TQ rainbow sb checks, bb bets 3/4 pot, mp folds, HERO min raises to hopefully isolate BB? You have 5 outs. Lets assume everything worked to plan and you're HU w/BB. he should check to you on turn. you take a free river card if you didnt improve. check/fold if river misses??? Am i getting this right? If not, can you come up with a SnG example of this theorem? Or does it not apply to Party SnGs because stacks are so shallow? |
