There were several reasons why I didn't 3-bet the flop.

I think that the BB is very unlikely to take a free card on the turn. I figured he would almost always bet the turn after raising the flop.

Also, I'm not sure how correct the following is, but I've been thinking about it: There's no way the Villain is going to fold if I 3-bet the flop. If I 3-bet the BB and Villain are just going to call for one extra bet. Then the pot is much larger on the turn and they will have odds to call with a lot of hands. However, if I let the BB bet the turn (as i mistakenly predicted), the Villain has far worse odds on a turn call. I'm not sure how correct this idea is, hopefully someone else can evaluate my plan.
