I guess I checkraised because I always checkraise. I am not sure if there is much of a difference whether or not I checkraise, except it gives me a little more deception.

Betting is better because you can't identify who will bet the flop and letting it get checked through is bad. The pot is small so 1 bet is plenty to protect your hand anyway.
