Default Re: Bikes in Las Vegas

1. Biking in Vegas is surprisingly pleasant. Lots of broad streets with wide shoulders, but bike lanes seem to be near schools. Drivers are very courteous (off the Strip). Never had one make a right turn on red if I was at the corner. Had to wave them through. In fact, they may have been the most bike-friendly drivers I've come across, but I can't explain why since I saw so few bikers.

2. I agree that the Strip is bad news unless you have a death wish or seek adrenalin highs. The Strip does have bicycle cops who are interesting to talk to if you like night time urban cycling.

3. There's a PDF map of bikeable LV streets on the web. Very useful. If you can't find it, PM me and I'll see if I can locate it.

4. Orleans has a bike rack a few feet from the poker room. One of the few reasons to play there.

5. Lots of bike shops have signs saying that they rent bikes, but I have no experience renting.
