Default 5/6 card PLO8 hand/strategy?

I played a loose 2-5 PLO8 home game tonight and we were playing 5 and 6 cards to a person sometimes. I'm wondering if my game should change much, should I just become even more of a nut peddler? The hand I went broke on disturbed me a lot..

5-card PLO8, I limped on the button with TT445, not great but maybe worth a flop in good position. The flop was K75 and it was checked all around. The turn was a T giving me the second best hand on a still Rainbow board. SB bet out 50 and got 3 callers and I pushed the rest of my chips for only 120 more. SB folded and two people called me. the river was a 4 and my set lost to a straight and second-nut low.

I'm just wondering if this is the right move since there were so many cards I needed to dodge playing 5/6 cards, about the only thing I would like to see is the board pairing(which never seemed to happen at the right time for me, gah).

Is there a different strategy when you play 5/6 cards? Are sets absolute junk?
