Default 1/2 NL v. 2/4 or 3/6 Limit

I know this topic has been discussing indirectly on here a lot, but I wanted to directly address the question. Do you think that overall, in the long run, that 1/2 NL games or 2/4 Limit games are more profitable? I play in Atlantic City when I do, in case anybody was wondering.

I am just wondering if I should play Limit, since the players tend to be so much worse. I played 1/2 NL at the Tropicana last weekend for about 3 hours, and ended up $8 down. The players on the table weren't very good, which made the fact that I didn't make anything more frustrating, though obviously in the course of 90 hands or so, variations are to be expected.

After that, I played 1-2 at the Taj Mahal, and ended up down about $60, though I did have terrible cards (almost no pocket pairs of any kind, AK once), and I think I played well, so I am not too disappointed.

While the players in 1-2 NL weren't great, they also weren't totally clueless either. Most seemed to have played online or been familiar with poker terminology. The most common type of player in this are are the college aged people, who think they are cool wearing the sunglasses. While I played 2-4 a little the first two or three times I played in a casino, I really didn't know what I was doing at the time, so it's tough to evaluate.

My question is, do you think I'd make more profit playing a 2/4 game or whatever the lowest limit is that the casino has? I've read Ed Miller's Small Stakes Holdem Book, though I have very little limit experience. Almost all of my experience is in NL tournaments and cash games. Overall, on the year, in my limited NL experience, I am up a decent amount, but I was wondering if you thought that limit created a better situation.

Also, I'll be in Las Vegas in December around Christmas, and wonder if 4-8 would be more profitable at the Wynn, than 1-3 NL (which I did well in this past summer). Again, I have less experience playing limit, so that's something I'll have to take into account if I do play limit (of course, the easy option is to play limit more, but the next few months are going to be tough on time).

What do you all think?
