Default Re: taking shots in bigger NL games

[ QUOTE ]

if Poker is your only source of income I highly advise against taking a shot.

If you are going to take a shot it should be with money you really wont miss.

well, yeah. the thing is i never really took any shots when i was playing LHE. after reading the Kelly betting thing in the 2+2 mag a few months ago it made me realize that i probably have been costing myself money be being overly safe.

i know its bad to take a shot with too much so that i'd be having to drop down to a lower limit. but since its such a pretty huge difference in stakes i'm very overrolled for the 2 and 400 games. and even if i took a 5 buyin shot i stil would have more than enough for the smaller games, i'm mostly worried about if i'll have an edge in that game, or if there's even a remote chance of starting off hot and never looking back without hitting a negative 5 buyin swing at first. and also how much better chances i'd have if i was willing to put up 10 buyins.
