Default Matching names to websites

So I see a bunch of adverts for affiliates websites in the classifieds section, and I see a bunch of the mods (and other posters) here are affiliates. Affiliates posting here often refer in passing to their websites, but never by name.

One advertiser actually puts his 2+2 name in his ad. But (unfortunately, IMO) that doesn't seem to be the norm.

For those of us not in the know, would it be violating the rules of the forum for an affiliate poster here to simply name his/her website? A sticky post with that info would be great, IMO.

I think most folk here would object to posts which *promote* a website, but I'm talking about simply saying "I'm <2+2 name>, and I operate <ABCrakebackXYZ.com>". Nothing more.

I'm not an affiliate, by the way.
