Referral bonuses and signup bonuses

Quick question; I'd like to refer a friend through a referal link to some of the sites that are offering signup bonuses. Lets take Absolute for example. Will he get the 150% signup bonus with me still getting the referral fee or bonus?

Im just wondering if its an either or thing for the referred party. Or if he takes the bigger signup bonus at one of these sites that I receive nothing for referring him.

Anybody know how most sites handle this??
