He was losing at 1/2 and 3/6.

Not sure if I followed OP's story correctly, but he initally won at those limits and then came back and played them as he moved down in limits during his downswing and continued losing in these games as well.
EDIT: Looking more closely, he was breakeven his first 30K - 40K hands, so clearly he moved up before he had any reason to believe he was beating the games. Then he went on an incredible heater. Whatever his motivations for moving up initially, they were not based on a justifiable belief that he was a better player than the others at the table. Hopefully that will be different the second time around.
