Guys who pop their collars...what's the deal with that?

So today I watched this guy pop his collar, and as he walked by he gave me a really weird look. It was then that I realized that I had been staring at him with a nauseated expression fer like 20 seconds. Here's a brief reinactment of this strange creature:
He looked left and then right, prolly hoping to get in a quick "clicking gun." He then leaned back and pretended to have an exaggerated yawn. He now moved the right side of his collar slightly up. He again looked around, but this time made a strange grunting noise. Only now did he choose to pop his collar fully. What an interesting young man.

You guys who pop your collars are nuts. I don't get it.
