My first bad beat jackpot story!

Sept. 29, 2005: 9:20am and my chem class is over, so this little asian chick who always hangs around me wants me to go to the library and study our physical chemistry homework. I agree, and we walk toward the library. The whole time I'm thinking about going to Viejas casino (in San Diego county), because i haven't played a live game in a month. Responsibly, i go into the library and sit down with her. I try to study, but she can't shut up. I can't study because she keeps talking, and then she whips out her little ball of yarn and starts knitting something. CLEARLY i'm not going to get any studying done with her, so I decide to skip my worthless econ class just once(it's pass/no pass, after all), and i drive over to the casino. Best class i ever skipped!

I wait over a half an hour for a 3/6 limit Hold'em table (slow on thursdays, plus half the people were in a tourney that was half over), then sit down at the new table that they just opened up. I'm at seat 3, so i am next in line for the BB... i decide that isn't good so i move to seat 9 (button) before anyone else does. Best seat change in my life!

An hour or so later, i get A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] UTG while eating my hot dog, so I raise.
Guy with 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] calls from the button, and the flop is A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. We cap it. Turn is 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. No cap when it's heads up, so i spend $50 or so re-raising this guy, and the whole table is starting to go nuts. River is a blank, we bet just a little, and then he turns over quad deuces. I'm not too thrilled, because I thought the qualifying hand was aces full of jacks. I thought i might win $200 because that was bad beat thursday, and aces full of deuces is a good, safe hand for the $200 prize... but aces full of jacks is the qual hand for the "super", and aces full of deuces is the minimum hand for the "regular" jackpot. Finding this out, i finally can go nuts knowing that i actually won a BB jackpot! A measely $3300 after tips, but still significant to a college student who is only up to $25NL online [img]/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img]
