Live L08 Buy in with a Kill

I played in my first live Limit Omaha 8 (3/6) game last night and was surprised by the Kill rule. The local rule was to make the next hand a kill if a player scooped a pot $50 or more. I was always hesitant to play kill pots in holdem because I didn't like how much it could hit my stack only to make things twice as hard to recover. I get the feeling that I should adjust my position for O8 games and just make sure my buy-in is sufficient.

Do others feel the same?
