This is a huge point for me, and a concept I really try to consider on each and every applicable river.

So what? If we bet, he raises (or calls) with his better hands, and folds his worse ones?

Whether or not the villain plays his hand 'perfectly' is not as big a deal as whether HERO plays his hand correctly in this situation.
