A music question for OOTs collective wisdom

Name a song or songs that were done by a band that you think, had another band done the song, it could've been really good but the band that did the song was not really good enough to pull it off.

Adjectives left intentionally vague. Sorry about the complicated (and probably incorrectly constructed) sentence.

Contemporary music is better than oldies. An example (thanks claunchy!) would be maybe "Something Vague" by Bright Eyes. Or most Death Cab for Cutie songs. I'd prefer this thread not turn in to a flame war about obscure bands' merits though. Let's prove jake's post wrong
