Deep stack tournament trend?

Are more sites offering deep stack tournaments now? I just read a post that Stars has a T5000 starting chip tournament and Paradise offers the same thing.

I like the deeper stack tournaments and now they seem to be more prevalent. Is this a marketing ploy to get you to there game or a wave of the future?

Thoughts?
