(If this is an oft covered topic that my searches have missed- please do me a favour and post link with the appropriate STFU, NooB remark)
In a couple of weeks time, I'm going to take a week off work. I thought I could profitably use the time by pretending to be one of these big time poker pro's you read so much about. So I'm planning to spend a week playing poker full time. My current plan is to 2 table $1/2 for 8 hours a day (though If things go specatacularly well and I make the bankroll, might try a little $2/4). This is a big test of stamina for me, as previous long session have been of the weekend poker bender variety. What advice do people have about best mental and physical approach to this kind of short term grind? breaks, exercise, mental stimulation other than poker, study, being sociable, target setting... I'm a little concerned I could easily spend a week totally cut off from the world! Also- I'm based in the UK- is it worth me adapting to a different schedule to play when americans are drunk/tired? basically, I want to adopt the mental attitude of a pro, in the deluded hope that eventually my ability will catch up.... |
