Default AK on the bubble

This is my fist post at the MTT forum. I usually play S&G, so be gentile

I played my first MTT today, a 10$ at Primapoker, in which I got eliminated at the bubble (14th of 130).
I was shortstacked for about 2 hours; living on bluffs only since I was getting bs cards. Ironically I went out the hand after I got a descent stack (by representing a flush ).
I dont have the hand history, but the situation was simple:
A couple of medium/small tight stacks limped to me in middle position where I raised 6 bb (high blinds) with AK and the bigstackmoron on the botton pushes. And I call with my remaining 8 BB.

His dominated bs ace wins and I get eliminated. Did I play this wrong or was I unlucky? Should I fold everything when the bigstacks are left to act (given that they are donks) when close to the money? Or do I gamble for first?(30% for fisrt, 20 for sekond).

Im sorry that im not posting the handhistory (failed to get it)so if there is any importent info i missed out on let me know. However it seems like a basic situation and a noob question.
