Default PLO vs NLHE

I've been comparing the 2/4 NLHE and 2/4 PLO (high) games on Pokerstars ($400 max buy-in). I've noticed that far more often the PLO game will have a player with a gigantic stack (say $2500+) than the NLHE game.

My questions: Does PLO offer an expert a greater advantage and thus the ability to build a huge stack? If so, what specific skills does the expert have that give her this large advantage?

Or on the other hand, does PLO simply due to the greater number of cards compared to NLHE, offer many more made hand versus big draw confrontations? A large stack is created by simply getting lucky on three or four coin flip situations in a row.

My reason for asking is probably obvious. I find the possibility of building a huge stack very attractive. However, if it is all due to variance and none to a possibly higher EV in PLO then I would probably not be interested.

Thanks,
Paul
