a Legends of Poker hand (Brunson vs. Buss)

all I can say is... WTF?

With the board showing Js-9s-6d-4d, Doyle Brunson checks to Jerry Buss who bets out $2,000 in chips. Doyle calls. The river is the Js, and Doyle checks again. Buss checks behind him, and shows 9-9 for a full house. Doyle shows pocket kings, and then mucks.

I think cardplayer got it wrong, because I cannot fathom checking the river..
