Default Turbo SnGs. Are they beatable?

I am a self admitted not very good NL tourney player, I focus mainly on playing full limit ring games and play good enough to beat the 1/2 limit.

However I have a crapload of bonus money sitting at Stars, so I figure playing their lowest level SnGs is a good place to learn while still getting FPP for the bonus.

So I mostly play their 6.50 turbo SnGs and I do very bad at them. I do much better at the normal 5.50 ones but unfortunately time constraints (read: young kids) make the turbos much easier on the schedule.

What I would like to know is does anybody have any long term success with these?, as they mostly seem to be a crapshoot and over the course of an average tourney (about 40 hands total, 20 or less if you go out earlier) luck is pretty much the only factor. Most of tourneys are me getting in with the best hand and am sucked out or I pretty much get blinded out as I muck 94o over and over again (not hard to go cold for 25 hands when you play tight).

The turbos maybe easier on my schedule but are they worth it to me for learning NL tourney play? Can a decent SnG players exect to have as good results in turbos as normal SnGs? or is the turbo format simply too skewed towards the luck factor to be any indication of anything?
