Default Results based with this play?

Little $1 MTT tourney that I was playing tonight. First place pays $300 so that's what I'm after. Game is down to 75 players out of around 1,200 on PokerStars. I pick up AJ in 2nd position. Table had been playing pretty tight. The average chip stack is 20,000 and I'm packing under 8,770.

Now, if this is late position I'm definitely all in. Is this a dumb play in 2nd position, putting aside the fact that it's a one dollar tournaments and I've made a whole $2.70.

If I win the pot, however, I'm average and the chip leader is around $50,000, with 2nd place at $35,000. So a double up and some good poker and I've got a shot at this thing.

Maybe I lay down and wait for a better hand? However with the blinds and antes I might not get a chance at this.
