Usually when I go on tilt, I play too tight and passively, silently fuming but still playing at least decently.
Today I 3-bet the river out of frustration when I knew I was beat. That's the first time I've done that in a long while. I'm beginning to think I have a real problem with tilt, because I am always fuming in some way or another about my results. I'm an extremely competitive person... and I wonder if this is the main source of my problems. In poker, you can't win through sheer effort. You will often lose despite playing your very best game. After 200,000+ hands, I know this consciously, but I can't quite get my ego to accept it. Part of it also is probably that I'm experiencing a very long stretch of sub-par results. Losing seems to beget losing... as my psyche deteriorates it makes it harder to win, which further deteriorates my psyche, etc... |
