Default Too conservative?

Two moves I made in a recent Super Weekday satellite SnG...

#1 - 7 players left, I have 500 chips, blinds are 25/50. I am BB and UTG pushes all-in for 900 chips. Its folded around to me and I folded AQs.

#2 - same tournament, 6 players left, I have 1100 chips now, blinds 50/100 and I get 99 UTG. I folded it.

Were these moves too conservative? My thinking was that I still had enough time to wait for a better hand than AQs, and with 99 I didnt want to run smack into domination by TT+ or a 50/50 shot, and didnt figure to be called by anything less.
