Default Home game bubble strategy

OK...tell me if this is a bad play or not.

I was at a home game a while ago...we had 10 players...top 3 got paid.

we were in the bubble w/ 4 players left.
blinds were 400-800 and short stack goes all in.
BB calls.
I call.
I tell him i am willing to check all the way to knock small stack out.

flop was 8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

He decides to go all in. I fold.

He turns over qj.

I got upset and tell him WTF ARE YOU DOING? WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO ISOLATE ME FROM THE POT!

Short stack catches on the river...i ended up getting cracked..

Was this a bad strategy on his part or a good move? Please explain the logic because i want to email him this thread.

Thanks LS
