I guess it's in a good way but...
Alright, so I'm having an amazing month, but the overall effect is that it's bumped up my longterm winnings from around 0.8BB/100 to 1.5+BB/100 at around 55k hands (5/10 SH). Obviously it says something that two weeks and change of amazing hands can swing even a reasonably large sample that much, but then again it was a terrible downswing that was responsible for crawling my way back. Anyway, two points. The first is that 1.5BB/100 had at one point come to seem like loser stats (not loser as in 'losing money' but as in 'you suck, loser') because of my time here where something like (entirely made up numbers) 80% of winning players and 90% or maybe much higher of pro-level online players frequent. Second thing, I qualified today for that porsche freeroll over at Party (10k raked hands since 6/24 if anyone doesn't play there - if you do you can't miss the banners). By the time it rolls around I'm sure the EV will be miniscule, but I had another realization. Just like a 1.5BB/100 5/10 longterm winrate would be incomprehensible to almost everyone playing poker online, 10k raked hands in a month is a serious feat, judging by the only 400-some registered players. So it's just a bit of a double-wakeup call. Even if not everyone here is a winning player and a lot of us 2+2ers are far short of brilliant, as a whole we -are- the elite, and we -are- representative of the cream of the poker community, and even the below average among us are accomplishing something pretty serious pokerwise. |
