Default Re: Gazes steamrolled Forrest last night

[ QUOTE ]
It's too obvious if Forrest actually was softplaying Clonie. It was probably more Forrest having Gowen in position on him, and how he has to deal with her for many more future hands. Maybe he was trying to induce a bluff in bigger pots like the one where he called on the river w/ KK on a ATxTx board where the river was the 3rd heart. Any non-bluff and Forrest was beat.

[/ QUOTE ]

I would think his play was fine if he either if as you say he expected her to bluff too much, or also, if he expected her to call his bets with very little. To me (I don't play no-limit much) it seemed like the latter was his read and it worked perfectly, IIRC the call with a straight draw on Clonie's bustout hand Ted made the straight was only getting proper odds if he was confident she'd call if he hit his card. He hit his card, made a big bet, and she called. She even said in the interview afterwards that she thought Ted was going to make a move on her. So it looked like his read was perfect, and Clonie was over-inclined to call against Ted. So what if he lost a bunch of T9000 pots?

As for Gazes, he only made one semi-mistake, the rest was bad luck and Gazes capitalizing.
