Ways to induce a call??
Live NL100 game at Commerce. The opponent in question plays loose, seems to take raises against him as "insults" and stares at the raiser before calling. I get the impression that he's got an ego involved and doesn't like to be raised off of a hand, and certainly doesn't like to fold.
My image, if he's noticed anything at all, is tight, making solid bets with good cards. So, the hand in question is summarized like this: I have 32o in the BB, 2-3 people limp, SB limps, I check. Flop (pot is ~12) is 339 w/ 2 that are the same suit. I bet 10, he declares he has a 9 and calls, all others fold. Turn is a brick (pot is ~32). I bet $40, intentionally overbetting, hopefully to get him to think I'm bluffing and that I'm challenging his statement that he has a 9. He thinks and thinks, declares that I must have a 3 because I was the BB, shows a 9, and folds. This whole time he was thinking, I just basically stared at the table and never said anything, which is what I typically do when involved in a pot. So, the question is, what sorts of things could I have said or done to induce a call from him here? |
