Wynn 2/5 NL hand reading exercise
Here's a hand that took place at my table on Saturday morning.
The table was on the tight side for a 2/5 game. I hadn't seen anything outrageous from the players in this hand, although I had no reason to think they were particularly great (except that one guy bought in for 1500, which made me think he might be good). I fold UTG. UTG+1 40ish guy (210) raises to 25. Three folds, then there is a 40ish guy MP cold caller (bought in for 1500). The next player (MP+1), 25ish tightish kid (550) raises to 60. Folded back to UTG+1 who calls, MP calls too. Flop 9d3s2d. UTG+1 goes all in for remaining 150. MP calls after ~5 seconds thought. After a few more seconds, kid goes all in for ~500. MP thinks for like 20 seconds and calls. I'll stipulate here that all the plays in this hand would seem reasonable or defensible to a typical (i.e., bad) 2/5 player. This is not to say that all the players played their hands well. All hands were shown down (this is not a hint). Put each player on a hand or range of hands. |
