Default Early/Srong limp-raising with JJ OOP (how aggresv is too aggresv)?

Basically, this is early in a $5.50 game at UB, I have JJ in MP and come in with a strong limp-raise against a 4.5xBB button raiser and a SB caller, which is probably a dumbass move to begin with, but I've been experimenting with it for fun. Flopped a rainbow of undercards, which is obviously great to see, but then I find myself OOP, with a good hand, and in an awkwardly large pot of my own dumbass creation; what's more, I'm playing against a guy who says he has a great hand and I have a difficult choice as to bet size. I feel dirty for saying this, but I chose to bet 35% of my stack, which was *slightly less than half the pot*

I guess I was telling myself he'd either fold or reraise, and I'd fold if he re-raised and rally back. Well, he called, which I wasn't expecting. Another undercard brought a non-threatening four-to-a-straight, and I instictively (because I'm unsure) open-pushed. In spite of my good results, I'd like to know how many ways I screwed this up, and it safe to say it's time to take the aggressive OOP JJ limp-raise out of my preflop repertoire?
