How do 5 card stud players who aren\'t donks play each other?

I seriously don't see how in a 5stud limit a great player could have any meaningful edge over one who is somewhat good? Am I mistaken? I seriously don't understand this form of poker, unless you add something like High/Low w/ a redraw.
