Oh dear god, that wasn't even a *good* fake CS email.

Sure, an out-of-control gambler who demands their account be closed, but gambles anyway and then wants their losses back is a long term "valuable customer" in so many ways -- not like the more typical affluent fish who can afford his losses, and tells all his friends about "how fun it it" (and selectively recounts his big wins). Yeah, those normal gamblers are trouble, and are a painfully scary warning to everyone around them: "This could be you".

I'm sure all our real CS e-mails include a 'remember when' like a best friend fondly recounting a 'drunk story', instead of stopping with a boring "A review of your transaction history shows that you have been a loyal, valued customer..."

No matter how much money you've made them in the past, a casino only cares what you can do for them NOW. They don't want the hassle of problem gamblers. Sure, they'll take your money, but you just flagged yourself as a potential problem. If they gave back your losses, they'd be left with only the hassles (and a lot more of them!) That'd hardly make you a valued customer. Your closed account can't make them money, and a problem gambler in a casino tends to become a problem in other areas, too -- especially once they blame 'daddy' for the car crash because "he told me he'd hide my keys".

That's not a slam at casinos. Most businesses will do the same. Even a bank that accidentally forgets to place a stop-check order won't give you back your money, if they find out you wrote the check AFTER you put the stop order in. Legally, that's fraud.

I sincerely apologize if I am mistaken, but if I read the situation correctly, that feeble attempt to reclaim your table image could only give a few vulnerable posters false hope, and that really bugs me.

I had the same exact reaction when I read it. Weird language for support email. I just put it down to non-native English writer possibly.
