Although Crunchy has clearly grabbed the correct by the balls, he does not elaborate on the mistakes in your thought process. Raising a low pp (in general) should only be done in late position first in or as an isolation play to get heads up as these hands play well hu and have fairly good showdown value depending on the flop. Also keep in mind raising does not better your pot odds, putting one bet into a 6 sb pot is NOT the same as putting two bets into a 4 bet pot hoping for calls down the road.
