Default Need some help on the Casino Arizona $5-$150 game

I usually play limit poker at Casino Arizona (Talking Stick Casino), but tried the $5-$150 game tonight. In Arizona, the largest poker bet allowed is $150, so it's not a standard NL game. I went into the game thinking it would be closer to a pot limit game. I walked out with my tail between my legs.

Max buy-in is $300. $3 and $5 blinds. Half the table has around $100-200 and several players have $500-$1000. I take $300 to the table in chips and see the average preflop raise is $20.........

Everything is fuzzy after that (read: I played stupid). I got pushed off some decent starting hands, then called flop bets of $50+ when I wasn't sure where I stood. Consider me a total idiot at this game, and give me your advice for this structure if you will. Thanks.
