Default Getting into trouble with this hand, how to avoid next time?

Playing on Pacific at a pretty weak table. I am no expert but I have read some of the posts here and I know a fair bit about the game. Sitting at a NL 10 table (blinds .05/.1).

Six players:
8Eight8 ($13.74) has dealer chip
cyberlug ($38.53) is SB
dazzyd66 ($20.00) is BB
posen ($6.34) calls BB
Hero ($10.85) calls BB with Ad 8h
PlanBPro ($4.90) posts BB
8Eight8 (dealer) calls BB
cyberlug (SB) calls BB
dazzyd66 (BB) checks
-----------
Flop: 3d 5h As
cyberlug bets .50
dazzyd66 calls .50
posen folds
Hero calls .50
PlanBPro folds
8Eight8 calls .50
----------------
Turn comes Ac
cyberlug checks
dazzyd66 checks
Hero bets $3.00 (into a pot of $2.50)
8Eight8 calls $3.00
cyberlug calls $3.00
dazzyd66 folds
---------------
River comes 4d
cyberlug checks
Hero bets $3.00 (into a pot of $11.50)
8Eight8 calls $3.00
cyberlug calls $3.00

At this point I figure I am about to muck my cards because I am outkicked by at least one of these guys.

8Eight8 flips over 2s 5d. He hit his gutshot straight on the river.

Final pot: $19.60
-----------

Analysis: I realize I played this aggressively, probably stupidly considering I had 3 callers after my first $3 bet. But I never thought I was going to lose to a straight. How would you have played this hand?
