The player was relatively new to the table and I had not played in a hand with him yet. With his re-raise I figuired he had AA, AK(rather unlikely) QQ or JJ. I capped the flop looking to define my hand but since the flop was powerful for any high pair, I could not rule out many hands except 2 high cards. So I conclude he has AA, QQ or JJ. Turn is a blank and he checks to me so I bet. His call got me very confused. I had figuired that I probably had him beat, since he would most likely raise after the capping of the flop. The river is another blank. Should I have checked behind him or is this a good value bet. He showed down AA. Personally the only part I do not like about my play is on the flop. Capping may not have been incredibly wise, as I had a strong notion that he had AA, but not strong enough to lay the kings down. On the turn and river I think my bets are good, he could be calling down with QQ, JJ or weaker. So was I overly aggressive with my kings which was why he didn't play his aces strong, or did I just get somewhat unlucky to run into aces instead of an underpair to my kings. Thoughts please. |
