Dear Joe,
There are a lot of different things you can try - talking to a Mormon minister as a couple, going to talk to a counselor as a couple, you going and talking to a minister on your own, or waiting and seeing how you feel. But essentially, if you care enough about this to consider breaking up with this woman that you love, then breaking up with this woman that you love is probably the best of the shi[/i]tty options. You want to maintain your integrity and she wants to maintain her integrity and that makes it really hard when they don't coincide, but sometimes people who love each other have hopes and ideals that can't be reconciled. I'm not interested in discussing Mormomism per se. I imagine she's having the same dilemna you are, so I would sit down with her and say: listen, this is really a big issue for both of us, how can we deal with this? In the end, if you try to work through it and it doesn't work, you can part (and stay apart for the time being) knowing that you both gave it your best, and that the person you love is being true to themselves. |
