Re: Cassandra Syndrome
[ QUOTE ]
Since online poker is operated outside the US, the US government has precisely zero jurisdiction. [/ QUOTE ] You're wrong. Online gambling can be construed as wire fraud [violation is probably a better word]. I've got at least one article that may enlighten you. Is Online Gambling Legal? [ QUOTE ] The anaolgy to Napster is way off. Napster was theft, pure and simple. [/ QUOTE ] So is not claiming money you made on your IRS returns. There may very well be groups who feel that online gambling is reducing their profits from live casinos. It might be cutting into someone's kickbacks. You just never know who is getting their toes stepped on, or who feels like they are getting theirs stepped on. I also never said liberal democrats wouldn't jump on the bandwagon either. But I feel it will be the right wing religious types who invent this as a politcal issue, and the then the Dems will likely go belly up and say "oh sure we knew it was wrong all the time, vote for us!". |
