![]() Yesterday I played in a $10-$20 must move game with a new face who clearly played for fun and to get lucky only. This player went on a rush and won 5 or 6 pots in a row. This guy had an understanding of the game, however he announced to the table he planned on playing every hand. The table encouraged him and wished him luck. I lost with AK against his 10 3. I raised preflop, he flopped two pair and I flopped a K. Needless to say, I lost the hand. He rivered a set of 4's against someones AK who flopped a K. He kept his promise and seemed to win more than he lost. I lost a monster hand to him with a set of aces. I dint get a chance to play another hand against him because he got transferred to the main game. When I did play with him, people had a grand old time with him. He was very sarcastic and surly yet the other players treated him with respect despite his demeanor. By the time I got to the main game I thought that the kid's luck was bound to run out. When I went to the main game not only did it hold out if improved. . He raised with 2 7 and rivered the straight. I counted 9 straight hands that he played at one point including the blinds. He raised 3 times reraised someone 2 times and limped 4 times. In that nine times. He did get excessive action when he flopped a set of 8's and someone flopped top two pair. He ridiculed the players play for a good three hands. He started raising while he stacked his chips without even looking at his cards. In the main game I sat to the immediate right of this player. I watched him play in a reckless and foolish manner. Yet as is the beauty with this game, his play worked out for him in the short run. He continued to stack his chips. I folded for about an hour without a hand I could play.He on the other hand played every hand and started to lose them. I had somewhere I had to get to so I couldnt stay any longer. The players either ignored his taunts or laughed at them. One of the pro's at the table struck up a conversation with the kid. He encouraged the kid to play the way he was playing. The pro got the kid to discuss his twisted theories of the game. How it's a seven card game and AK and AQ are highly overated. The pro never gave advice just probed the lucky one for information. When I go back to the poker room, I am sure I will hear how he lost it all. Hopefully he is still on a rush and I can take him down to Chinatown |
