Good push? Newbie needs help!
This was a home NL tournament $10 buy-in/$10 rebuys for 500 chips. We had started with 6 players, and were down to 4. Top 3 get money.
I'm guessing on the stack sizes, but they're close. I'm the short stack. Blinds are 50/100 CO ($1500+) Villain ($2000) Hero ($500) BB ($2000+) Preflop: Hero is SB with 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. CO folds, Villain calls $100, Hero raises to $500 (All-in), BB folds, Villain calls $500. My thinking at this point was: 1. I'm short stacked and I need some chips to win. I really want first or second place because I'm in for $20 (entry + rebuy) so the $10 third place isn't that exciting. I also don't think anyone is going to bust out before me. 2. I was certain BB would fold and I was pretty sure that Villain would fold. 3. Villain is a very loose player. He could literally have any 2 cards, so I think I almost want him to call to double me up. He would raise with his better hands, so I didn't think he could have a pair. I figure at worst I'm a coin-flip. Is my thinking ok here, or am I way off base? I'll post the results later. Thanks in advance for your help! Kong98 |
