Down to 30, top 6 pay same amount -- strat adjustments??

I did a search for "satelite" in the forums and didn't find anything that would help me answer my somewhat generalized question.

How should I adjust my play from always trying to be patient, yet get first place?

I'm thinking I need to try and maintain an average stack while eliminating players for a good price. Avoid big stack conflicts as doing an AK vs QQ coinflip for 60% of the chips in play is not optimal.
