Interesting bit of maths regarding moving up levels!!!
have recently taken to sit and go's due to a bad patch playing ring games. Think it suits my play better as i can generally read people quite well and i think my bubble play is good, but anyway i did a bit of maths on earnings made by a good player and found a substantial difference between the $10 level and $20 level.
All my assumptions are incredibly vague i know but still the final result is quite interesting. Say a good player who comes 1st 14% 2nd 14% 3rd 14% of the time plays 1000 games. At $10 level 1st = (1000 x 0.14) x 50 = 7000 2nd = (1000 x 0.14) x 30 = 4200 3rd = (1000 x 0.14) x 20 = 2800 Total = = 13000 - 11000 (buy-ins) = 2000 Not bad a $2000 profit but if we say each game took us half an hour (if anyone knows a better average time please let me know) and we 3 tabled. Then that $2000 took us 175 (roughly) hours to accummulate. 2000 / 175 = $11.42 now thats not as good, so what hourly rate could i earn at the $20 level At $20 level 1st = (1000 x 0.14) x 100 = 14000 2nd = (1000 x 0.14) x 60 = 8400 3rd = (1000 x 0.14) x 40 = 5600 Total = = 28000 - 22000 (buy-ins) = 6000 Now thats a lot better so by moving up one level you triple your hourly rate to $34.2 which is a nice healthy earning. So if you have the bankroll and the villains are the same level of competition (at party i think there are still lots of poor players at $20) and you believe you are a good player i would suggest moving up. Triple your earning by only doubling the buy-in thats gotta be good. |
