Best \"forgotten\" song of the 80\'s
I nominate "Sweetheart", by Frankie and the Knockouts.
I'd like to set a few ground rules here. #1. I am the grand arbiter of the forgottenness of songs in this thread. #2. The song has to have been a hit on SOME level, not just a song on an album you happened to like that no one else ever bought, like "Everything's Over", by Darling Cruel... #3. The song can't be something you still hear on a regular basis, ergo "Take on Me", "Come on Eileen" and "Safety Dance", while great songs, do not qualify. "The Promise" by When in Rome and "Whisper to a Scream" By Icicle works, do. #4 I will also make attempts to rate all nominations on a scale 1-10, 10 being best, in both Greatness and forgottenness. |
