LI Poker Club Tournaments

I was wondering if anyone has played in a Long Island Poker Club Event. If so, are these strictly for charity, or are winners taking home cash prizes? I was under the impression that if you won, you would get donated items and that the buy in was to raise money for the firehouse, charity, ect that was sponsoring the event. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
