extrapolation from a single sample
I recently had a federal jury panel of 45 people. Assuming the same criterea is used in future cases to draw future panels, how representative is my panel of 45? I don't know enough about this to form the question correctly, but what I am trying to find out is if my panel was 2/3 female, 60% "professional," factory worker's of x, etc, how likely are panels in the future to have the same demographics?
Assuming the potential panelist population is 3 million, am I better off looking at the demographics of the whole population to draw conclusions about future panels? Or does the one I actually reviewed tell me anything? thanks, Niatross |
