Default why does sb want to be on the other side of GAP?

Hi, here is a situation happens alot and I am not sure if this is the right approach. Let's say 4 handed, everyone is around 8bb, no particular small stack, you have A5s on bb.
Sb limp, push or see flop for free?

Sometimes I push back and called by AT or KT etc. Normally if they push first, I would probably fold depending on my read, but why would anybody want to be on the other side of GAP?

Of course, sb play badly. But what hands do you need to push to steal the blinds from sb in general?

Thanks in advance.
