Jobs in Politics/History

I find history and politics really fascinating. But I don't have any desire to help other people or better society. I'm also a big cynic on politics. Journalism kind of interests me because I like the idea of investigating things and really getting to the bottom of matters but I don't like writing. Thoughts on any possible jobs that would be good for me in this field?
