I cleared it with Pai Gow too, it goes extremely fast since you can just use the mimic the house option and burn through hands without really paying attention. Also the variance is pretty small because you push a lot. The big disadvantage of course is the high house edge, so it really depends on what youre looking for. If you have the time video poker is probably the best, if not stick with Pai Gow.

I might also add that the high variance in VP is largely from the high payout of the rare royal. I think it was posted here that its about a 40,000:1 shot, and since it takes about 4000 hands to clear the bonus, you would expect to hit it about 1/10 of the time. Simply put, this means that 9/10 times your expectation is about the same as PaiGow and 1/10 times you will hit a nice payday. So if you like to gamble while youre gambling VP is probably for you.
