First time to vegas, where to stay?

On Monday I am leaving good old Nova Scotia, gonna take the train across canada making stops in different cities along the way and after Vancouver I will be going to vegas. I have been looking at some things on the net but would like some input...I plan on staying 3 months in vegas, where is my best bet to stay? I will be playing 20/40 and up, any advise?
